In early 1990's a most challenging development project to extend the limits of plastics extrusion technology was started by Conenor and its industrial and scientific partners in Finland. The main characters of this high performing Conex extrusion technique are:
- Elimination of melt distributors for extruded products entirely free of weld lines
- Co-extrusion of multi-layer structures without a crosshead and side extruders
- Improved control of melt temperature, short residence time (RT) and residence time distribution (RTD) combined to highly efficient compounding and on-line mixing properties

Conenor has licensed the Conex technology in manufacturing specialty products in plastic pipes and cable coating industries.

Future potential applications are among others plastic films & -sheets, rubber and compounding.
The latest outcome of new generation technologies where Conex has been implemented is for wet natural fibre composite materials; the Conex Wood Extruder.

TRIAXCELL is unique new process technologies developed by Conenor for cast plastic films and sheets with cavitated biaxial structure. The primary applications for such films & sheets made in polypropylene (PP) are found in the packaging industry. The main benefits are:
- adjustable film thickness from 20 µm upwards - very low film densities
down to 0,2 g/cm3 in single and multilayer products
- less than half of the standard cavitated films' weight
- soft touch
- cost effective product due significant material savings

Also other plastic materials than PP can be processed with TRIAXCELL. The properties of biaxially oriented microcellular films & sheets in technical plastic materials e.g. cyclic olefins
